Why is the cursor on Windows a white dot or crosshairs?

Hi,

My pc just updated to Windows 1903. After I restarted it, my Intuos Pro M doesn't show the mouse pointer when I am using the tablet's pen.

It seems like Windows does not see I am using a pen but instead believes I am using touch.

What can I do?

Hi.

I have installed this version as well and I have been trying to reproduce the issue but I am not sure how.

Can you please clarify:
  • Do you see the cursor while hovering?
  • Is the cursor disappearing when you touch the tablet surface with the pen?
  • Does this happen on Windows in general or only with a specific application(s)?
  • Does anything change when you disable "Use Windows Ink" in the Wacom Tablet Properties? See how here.

I will answer in order:

- I cannot see the cursor while hovering.
- The cursor never shows up, nor when i hover nor when i press/touch the tablet surface.
- It happens all the time but only when windows detects I am using the tablet. When I use the mouse all is fine and the arrow is there.
- Nothing changes if I disable windows Ink form the tablet properties.

Hope this can be helpful for you. Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.
I still can't reproduce the issue, but this is clearly based on software.

Online search shows that this also happened to other customers in previous updates and it seems to be related with the HID driver from Windows.
I would start by reinstalling the Wacom driver - https://www.wacom.com/en-de/support?guideId=010-373 - which normally prompts Windows to also reinstall the HID driver.

If the issue persists, try the steps below and see if it helps.

and

As described in those articles, you might need to roll-back the Windows update and reinstall again.

I have this issue too. I hate microsoft and wacom. You both suck constantly.

THE POINTER COMES BACK IF YOU TURN OFF WINDOWS INK IN THE WACOM SETTINGS BUT THIS MAKES THE TABLET UNUSABLE SINCE THeRE IS NO PRESSURE SENSITIVITY ANYMORE.

Everytime Microsoft puts out a new windows 10 update, Wacom functionality breaks and Wacom does nothing for months.

Fix this already.

Most applications also support Wintab which will allow you to get pen pressure. Please check within your drawing app settings if this is supported. Some applications like Photoshop don't support this directly from the settings but you can still use Wintab through a different workaround. See the "For other tablets" section in the following article https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/tablet-support-faq-photoshop.html

The driver team has investigated these and other reports and opened a ticket with Microsoft. Please see - https://www.wacom.com/en-de/support?guideId=015-661

I have the same issue. Everything was fine until windows 10 may update (1903). After the update the cursor gone. There's an option "show cursor" under devices - windows ink panel but after enable this option the pen cursor become a small dot which is unusable. Had to revert my windows to previous version. Now it works correctly.

Re: Cursor disappears with Win 10 1903 update

I had the same issue, tried the "turn off Ink", uninstall then re-install driver, and it didn't work.
It stopped displaying cursor in Win10 1903 update, and I have the latest driver for Intuous tablet (6.3.35-3)

So the fix for me was to search for the "pen settings" app in the search box, open, then click "show cursor" and the cursor returned (well, the pointer now works, but it does switch to cross hairs which is also annoying, but I think this is a known issue with 1903 May 10 update with Windows that Wacom help reports).

Hope this helps.

Latest Driver Problem

Before the latest driver, 6.3.35-3, the pen stopped showing a cursor after Windows upgraded to 1903. It still worked, but instead of the normal cursor it showed only a little tiny star which was difficult to see. It only did this on certain applications, but not others. In addition, the right click function didn't work on those applications which didn't have the regular cursor. I upgraded to the new driver and had the same problem. Additionally, the mouse quit working completely with the latest driver. The mouse showed up, but wouldn't move. Completely worthless. I reinstalled the previous driver so I could use the mouse. After cumulative updates on Windows, I retried 35-3 today with the same result, still no mouse function. Anyone else have this or similar problems? Any suggestions?
