Mac - Pen strokes are Jagged/Input Lag After Updating to Catalina

Hello,

I followed the instructions to allow the tablet to function with Catalina. However, there is another issue with Catalina that I have, that I haven't seen been addressed yet.

For some reason, when I use the pen with my Intuos Pro, the input is very jagged, like a lagging video game. Using the trackpad is butter smooth, but the tablet input looks like it's at 20 FPS. This makes my lines look very jagged and messy. Even if I use the maximum stabilization setting in my art software, it doesn't make a difference. It's still the same messy lines.

Is there any way to make the input smoother? If I draw like this, it will turn out terrible. Please reply if you have a possible solution.

Thanks.

Does this happen with every App or just CSP? Can you test with another App like Krita?

If this only occurs with CSP, please contact the developer. If this happens with other apps and with the operating system in general, please contact our support - https://support.wacom.com

The lag was universal, across the whole OS.
I installed a previous version of the driver, and the lag is gone, the pen movement is smooth again. I just need to remember not to update until it can be fixed in the latest version.

Thanks for your reply.

Laggy pen cursor / On screen keyboard not working : Cintiq 24HD : Mac OS Catalina

Since Mac OS Catalina was released, the On Screen Keyboard on my Cintiq 24HD stopped working. Now on the latest driver, ver 6.3.38-3, the pen cursor is horribly laggy. I have switched back to the older driver (6.3.36-2) and it is working fine, except the On Screen Keyboard is still dead.

Am I the only one having this issue? Is this a known issue and is Wacom creating a fix for these issues? I'm forced to post here since I'm tired of all these issues. It seems getting worse and is affecting my productivity. Can you Wacom admins please reply on this? Many thanks.

Regards,
Rey.

I too am having the same issue with my Intuos Pro model PTH 660 after updating to a MacBook Pro running Catalina. Until I connected my Apple trackpad I thought my graphics card's refresh rate was messed up. However, my mouse movement with the Apple trackpad is very smooth. The issue is occurring through all connection methods : Directly plugged in (via a USB 3 to C adapter), Thunderbolt USB hub and wirelessly via Bluetooth.

My previous iMac running High Sierra has no issues and is as smooth as ever.

The on screen keyboard is not working because Apple removed the shortcut trigger with Catalina update.
As for the lag is it only with certain apps? I haven't seen any other reports. You should report the issue to the support team and provide them any necessary data they might request.

Thank for all the info. I will report this to the driver team.

Hi, thanks for the info regarding the the removal of the shortcut trigger. This is really awful in macs side.

Regarding the lag, no app is used. This is just using the pen on the desktop and the lag looks similar to a very low fps(frames per second) effect, which makes the cursors look like a trail of train cars. Using the pointer on the trackpad, it's normal, only on the pen. Using the older driver, the issue is gone.

Where is the link to the support team? Many thanks.

I wrote it in the end of my post - https://support.wacom.com

Something might be interfering with the new IOManager.

I have the same problem with my CTH-490 and Macbook 16 pro.
Cursor is moving like 20 fps everywhere (Mac OS, safari, finder, photoshop) for some time.

btw: Macbook 13 pro and High Sierra = no problem.
