Kanban boards for revision?

Has anyone tried using a Kanban board approach to help students revise?

I'm a big fan of using Trello for my own workflow, but I've never tried it with students.
The idea is that each piece of work is on a sticker/ card organised into columns.
Columns could be as simple as to do - doing- finished
They could be more complex e.g. each column being a different subject.

Visual thinking tools are so useful for our students - I think online Kanban boards would really help them see how much work they have and avoid overwhelm.
Could this be a new way of presenting homework and revision to students?
