6.12-5 driver issue

6.12-5 driver issue

Postby davidc » Fri 4. Dec 2009, 17:01

This driver is working ok for me except that from time to time the driver doesn't load on boot up (you cannot move the cursor with the pen tool) and the problem is only solved by booting the pc again. This isn't the end of the world but is a nuisance and was not an issue with the 6.11 driver.

Any ideas how to get rid of it, please?

I find the same problem and have found that I need to leave the Win7 log in screen for a while (don't know how long - 10-20 secs) before typing in user name / password. The 6.12-5 always loads this way.

Very annoying having to wait.

Thanks. Clearly something is stopping the 6.12-5 driver loading - but intermittently, not every time. I have no password set and the length of time I wait before trying the pen tool after each boot up makes no difference - it either works or it doesn't. I think I'll have to go back to the 6.11 driver again.

the crysis hit waccy or what. two driver versions in the row are epic fails.

i still have to admit i love my intuos4 very much but please! give your programmers better conditions to work or what else could be the problem? legalize them substances, for example. :) or maybe give them higher salary. don't cut expenditures on them. oh by the way, on beta-testers too.

When the driver starts and searches for a tablet, the USB connection may not be ready yet. This can happen with any driver version. We recommend to connect the tablet directly to a USB port on the mainboard, not through a hub or other USB extension. Also go to start menu -> wacom tablet and use the tablet preference utility to remove 'all' tablet preferences - incorrect prefs may cause the driver to look at the wrong place or search for the wrong tablet model. With the newer drivers you can use the utility also to backup and restore settings.

The utility also restarts the driver, and that is faster than restarting Windows. Other options are to start the tablet driver (the Windows service 'TabletServiceWacom') with start type 'automatic delayed'.

Thanks. I am connecting through a usb pci extension board plugged into the mboard. Is this sufficient or does the cable need to go into one of the usb connectors on the mboard itself?

If you are using 'special' USB connections or extensions, it may take more time to establish a connection with the tablet and the driver may not find the tablet at start. I would test with a direct USB connection on the mainboard, and see if it helps.
