Cursor will not move with new driver, older drivers fail

Hello.

I've had my Intuos3 A4 tablet for a good number of years, since about 2004, and it's been quite reliable.

However, the other day i decided to update to the latest driver version, and now the cursor won't move! At first i thought the driver was completely bust, so i tried re-installing older drivers, but they continually give me the error "TABLET DRIVER WAS NOT FOUND", and are completely useless. However, after re-installing the newest drivers, If i go into diagnostic mode, i can see the pen is being detected, as pressure is recognised, and the number axis coordinates for the pen are updating as i move the pen about. But the cursor will not move.

UPDATE. I've just tried opening Sketchbook Pro to see if anything happens in there, and it works fine. But if i close the program, or if it loses focus, it stops working again. What would cause this?

I guess you are working with Vista. In that case there are two different methods for moving the cursor with the tablet and it seems that one methods fails on your system for unknown reasons.

You can just go to device manager and disable the 'WacomVirtualHID' device and restart, or (disable the service TabletPC Input service). Most likely the tablet will work as usual, but Vista will not see a pen input device and not offer the pen functionality like flicks and pen handwriting recognition.
