USB-C Monitor

Postby introjoe » Tue 12. Jun 2018, 12:45

Hi everybody

We discussed in the forum some problems with external displays lately.
Tough, some problems - like the screen flikering on the tablet while connected with an external screen - could have been caused due to the used cable connection and adapters, like using a usb-c to vga adapter et cetera.

Now i heard about those new displays, such as the Dell S2718D, which can be connected only with usb-c and also works as a usb-hub.

anybody who tried out such a thing ?

thanks for your replies in advance !

All my tests and working work-around shows it is a Intel Iris driver problem, nothing to do with adapters or cables.
So I would not be surprised that this issue would also be present with an USB-C monitor.
In previous emails from Wacom support, they said that would be the solution, but they also blamed the adapters and cables.
I have 2 adapters, an USB-C to DisplayPort and one to HDMI. both have the flickering (black screen) issue. But when using them together connected to 1 and the same monitor I got no issues. Also using a very old Intel GPU driver it works fine until I reboot or computer goes to sleep. So then I need to shut down and restart. If it would be a hardware issue (cable, adapter, high CPU or GPU load) this would also occur in those situation, especially when connecting to external adapters.
Of course less conversion/adapters means less loss, so it could work with an USB-C monitor.
