Mobile studio pro as monitor with hdmi

Postby ArtsyScott » Sun 20. Jan 2019, 05:30

So I want use my msp basically as just a monitor to a device that has an hdmi output only. I have cables that let me do hdmi out video to an external monitor but the do not work when I am trying to do video in from an hdmi device. I have tried using an 4k capable hdmi to mini displayport cable with the wacom link but that didnt work for video in only out as well. I am hoping to find a solution in the lines of usb c to hdmi cable that has the correct specifications to work with the map. I've heard that Apples usb c to hdmi works but I would like to see if any one knows for sure or knows another alternative before I drop 70 or so dollars on something.

Hello. I think you just need a proper mDP to HDMI cable and it should work fine.

To my understanding, display port to hdmi just need a simple cable because the displayport protocol has a mode to switch to hdmi signal.
The opposite (hdmi to displayposrt) is not true, so I think you will need an active adaptor like this one : https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Di ... B00JQORLCG

I'll have to try that out, that appears to be most cost effective solution I've seen.
