Hey everyone -
Since the MSP uses USB-C, has anyone had any success using a different charger for it? I'm thinking, specifically, the USB-C charger that comes with an Apple Macbook. Something that doesn't look like the brick from my 2002 Thinkpad. :) I wasn't sure if all USB-C chargers were the same in that regard?
Thanks!
Eric

Alternate charger for MSP
Re: Alternate charger for MSP
Hi Eric,
I just tried it with a USB-C Macbook Pro charger with the Apple cable and it doesn't work.
I'd be interested to know if anything similar does work.
If I want to have two chargers for my MSP do I need to buy another official charger from Wacom?
Cheers, David

Re: Alternate charger for MSP
USB-C supports different power 'profiles' from Profile 1 to 5. Since the MobileStudio Pro is a powerfull workstation device, it needs profile5 charging. In other words, if you charger can supply Profile 5: 5 Volts, 2A / 12 Volts, 5A / 20 Volts, 5A, max 100W, then it should work (of course we garantee only the included Wacom charger). Profile1-4 will not provide sufficient power.
Re: Alternate charger for MSP
So, has anyone found a product that FOR SURE works?
Wacom still doesn't sell the power supply separately, as of last week.
I'm afraid of using the wrong one. I know usb-c devices can get damaged if you use something you shouldn't.

Nothing I've found yet. In fact, I found this article that specifically calls out the disaster of USB-C - in that simply choosing the wrong cable can destroy your machine:

I'm still looking for an alternate charger for MSP...
MSP has been launch since a few month and users can't buy accessories yet. Come on Wacom, it's not serious at all !

Just doing a search on Amazon turns up this:
MobileStuido Charger by BoxWave
Has anyone tried this? This company seems to make chargers for all kinds of devices...
