MobileStudio Pro/Macbook Pro

Postby BitRift » Thu 9. Feb 2017, 17:28

Hi,

I tried to connect my MobileStudio Pro 13 to my late 2016 Macbook Pro 13", hoping that the MobileStudio would function as a second screen with pen input (like a Cintiq).

I watched a youtube Video showing this working but it doesn't work for me.

I used the charging/data cable that came with the Macbook Pro charger. I connected one of the two Thunderbolt ports on the Macbook to the central port on the MobileStudio. I also tried the other two ports but I read somewhere that the central one is special somehow (is this the case?) This should just work right? I tried restarting both devices, putting the MSP in sleep mode, everything I can thing of. Both devices have bang up-to-date drivers. The MSP doesn't show up as a connected device in the Wacom properties of the Macbook.

Anything I should try to get this working?

Cheers, David

You are using the Wacom Link adapter or a direct USB-C to USB-C connetion ? Only the central USB-C port on the MSP allows video signal input and output - at least when using the Wacom Link adapter. You can connect a second screen to the MSP with the other ports, but use the central one for (displayport) signal input. Then you should see the MSP as monitor in the Macs monitor/display control panel.

Hi,

I'm using direct USB-C to USB-C connection. I don't think I should need a Link adapter.

No, nothing shows up in the Mac's display control panel when they are connected.

I've ordered a different USB-C cable in case that is the problem.

It works perfectly with the new cable.

It's "CABLETIME USB3.1 Type C Cable", I'm not sure what the Apple cable was, just the standard data cable that came with the charger.
