MSP16 i7 as a cintiq

Postby utopia » Sun 30. Aug 2020, 04:05

Hi there, i owned a MSP16 gen 1 i7 512gb. I want to use my MSP16 as a cintiq. I watched on YT beside using wacom link, if your PC has a dedicated usb type C,you can directly connect with usb C to usb C cable. I try to connect my RTX2080ti usb C port to the MSP16 middle usb C port and I already installed wacom driver on my PC. My PC did recognize my MSP but the MSP display turn black / blank and the PC did not detect any external display. Did i miss something, or we definitely need a wacom link? Thank you.

Please check the specifications of the USB-C port in your Graphics Card and see if DisplayPort 1.2 alternate mode is supported. Also make sure that the USB-C cable is able to support this. Not every USB-C port or cable is able to transmit a video signal. From what you describe Cintiq mode (or Hybrid mode) is being activated but the video signal is not reaching the MobileStudio Pro so there is a problem with the connection.

In theory, any Thunderbolt 3 cable will be able to support this connection natively. I am not able to recommend a specific one but typically cheaper cables have a higher chance to cause issues.
