New desktop computer for cintiq pro 16

Postby Andrili11 » Mon 18. Jun 2018, 13:00

Hi, I have a cintiq pro 16 and currently use it with my dell XPS laptop.
Now I want to buy a new desktop computer. It should last as long as possible - should be future proof. I definitely want to be able to connect the USB-C cable directly to the new PC without having to use the wacom link. To have less cables and being able to use the full resolution.
Is there anyone here who has the same plan or has recently bought a new desktop PC for its wacom? Which hardware components, graphics cards etc. would you recommended? What would you definitely consider?
Thanks for your help!

Most video cards and when I say most it basically means all I just say most because I havent seen every card in existence but most video cards have display ports. Video cards really haven't adopted usb c yet. As far as the motherboard goes the usb c built into the motherboard usually doesnt carry video. so you can't use it. what you have to do is use the video cards display port to mini display port connected to the wacom link adapter.

There is a pci card that acts like a internal wacom link that goes for roughly 100 dollars. basically the usb c connects to the card and you plug a display port cable from the pci card to your video card. Its basically like a internal wacom link. I believe this is such a card.

you can see the display port on the back that loops back to your video card.
