Hurricane Florence Alert:
A rather large hurricane is set to hit the East Coast of the United States at the end of this week. Because of its size and threat to life & property there have already been significant evacuations in the areas expected to be hit worst. Hopefully things do not turn out as bad, but we will probably see shipping delays to and from that area (our North America distribution center is in Memphis, TN, close to the area).
If you are in the US region and you order something during this period, please see check for possible alerts.

Cintiq 27 QHD / High Sierra / Brightness Control

Postby GerryPacher » Thu 30. Nov 2017, 12:43

Maybe I'm the only one who has a problem to dim down the brightness on a Cintiq 27QHD / iMac 2017 / high Sierra.

Any idea to solve this problem?

Hi Gerry, I hope you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to connect your Cintiq to your iMac 2017?

I just bought a new iMac before Christmas and I cannot seem to buy an adapter that is compatible?

Firstly, I purchased a Benfei DVI to USB-C and it caused my iMac monitor to flash, so I had to send it back. Then I bought an Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 to connect to my original adapter Apple DVI to mini displayport, which worked perfectly from my Cintiq 22HD Touch on my older iMac 2013. But the Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 connected to the Apple DVI to mini displayport adapter was too many adapters, so didn't give me a signal. Thirdly, I just bought a StarTech DVI to Thunderbolt 3 (CDP2DVI), it was recommended by people on ( ... intiq-22hd). BUT it doesn't work for me either.

I've spoken with Wacom, unfortunately who were NOT helpful, no solution and they wouldn't recommend anything. And I spoke with Apple Support as well as going into the store in London, and they couldn't really help either. One assistant said it was, quote, "a lost cause."

Any suggestions please would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I've got my 27 QHDT connected to iMac pro with DisplayPort to a thunderbolt hub and it works. Before that, I had it connected to a mini display adapter and into the thunderbolt port. (can't recall if I had an additional mini-to thunderbolt adapter in there).

I found a solution myself from another website and this worked for someone else, so I figured I'd try it too. I've managed to buy a Kanex DVI to USB-C adapter and it works perfectly! Yahoo!!! Finally, now I can use my expensive Cintiq again.
