Hurricane Florence Alert:
A rather large hurricane is set to hit the East Coast of the United States at the end of this week. Because of its size and threat to life & property there have already been significant evacuations in the areas expected to be hit worst. Hopefully things do not turn out as bad, but we will probably see shipping delays to and from that area (our North America distribution center is in Memphis, TN, close to the area).
If you are in the US region and you order something during this period, please see check https://www.ups.com/us/en/service-alerts.page?id=alert1 for possible alerts.

Connecting 2 computers to 1 older Cintiq

Postby neandertolman » Fri 9. Mar 2018, 18:16

Hi,

I have a peculiar set up and wondering if anyone knows if I can connect an older model Cintiq to two computers. I have:

Mac Pro 2008 (2 x 3.2 GHz Quadcore Intel Xeon) 32 gig ram, ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card, newly installed Hitachi SSD 1 terabyte running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Mac Pro 2018 (3.5 GHZ 6-Core dual Intel Xeon E5 processor, 16 GB ram, Dual AMD FirePro D500 with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM each, 256GB PCIe-based SSD

Wacom Cintiq 21UX 2007

Currently, the Wacom is plugged into the 2008 Mac Pro and working great! New Mac Pro should arrive any day now.

Thanks!

The Cintiq 21 is the DTZ-2100, correct?
Unfortunately it won't run on macOS 10.13. After we stopped the driver support for DTZ-2100, Apple changed the driver implementation in macOS and thus the older drivers cannot be installed anymore unfortunately.

Therefore the question needs to answered differently: What you are planning is not feasible.

General answer:
For the older models with only one cable there is only the possibility of a so-called KVM switch - a hardware switch for several computers for one set of screen, keyboard and mouse (or tablet).
WIth the new models with USB-C and other display connections (Cintiq Pro 24 and Cintiq Pro 32) you don't need to change anything - have one computer connected by USB-C and the other by DisplayPort and USB.
