Cintiq 27QHD very subtle random dims and brightens

Postby pmonychan » Mon 23. Jan 2017, 17:16

Greetings, I bought it few months ago and noticed a very strange screen problem, it's not easy to describe, especially because I'm not very good at english, but I'll do my best.

So, whatever settings I'm choosing in Wacom properties and advanced properties (color space, gamma, uniformity compensation, etc...), I notice very subtle random brightness variations, mostly visible as 3 or 4 dims and brightness changes in few seconds then it goes back to normal, but it can happens many times in a minute. Again, it's very subtle but also very annoying when it's your daily working tool!

My computer OS is El Capitan 10.11.6, wacom driver 6.3.15-3, BUT, I did a test with a Windows 10 PC and the problem is present too! So it seems to be an hardware issue to me.
The Cintiq is set as a second screen on a displayport, the first one has the same resolution, 2560x1440 on DVI port. I did a test with the Cintiq 27QHD HDMI port and the problem is present too.

So, is it a "normal" behavior or is it a real problem? The Cintiq is a recent one, I suppose, SN# starting with 6GBxxxxxxxx, bought it on amazon UK.

I hope someone will be able to help, thank you!

Update: I continue some testing and discovered that, by disabling "display sleep" in Systeme preferences/Energy Saver, the problem disappears...

Just a quick update, my 27QHD brightness strange behavior is surely an hardware problem and the Cintiq was sent for RMA a week ago. I hope it will be possible for the wacom guys to repair it instead of replacing it with another one! Crossing fingers.
