Cintiq Pro 13 not recognized as secondary display on Windows 10

Postby Glennascaul » Thu 21. May 2020, 12:12

Good morning,

This is my first topic here. I already spent time reading different topics with the same, or nearly, issue. Then I decided to write mine to get suggestions and explanations.

I received a Cintiq Pro 13 as a gift, complete of Wacom Link, USB-A cable, miniDP/miniDP cable, USB-C cable and USB-C power supply.

I tried to connect it via USB-C to my iMac 2018 and it works great (electrical outlet > power supply > USB-C cable > Cintiq Pro > USB-C cable > USB-C port of the iMac).

I then tried to connect it to my Windows 10 PC via:

- miniDP/HDMI cable (electrical outlet > power supply > USB-C cable > Cintiq Pro 13 > USB-C cable > Wacom Link > miniDP/HDMI cable + USB-A cable): the tablet works only as a pointer (touch and click), it is not detected as an additional display (no images displayed)

- Additional card with 2 USB-C ports (electrical outlet > power supply > USB-C cable > Cintiq Pro 13 > USB-C cable > USB-C port on the card inserted in the PC): the tablet works only as a pointer (touch and click ), it is not detected as an additional display (no images displayed). Probably because the riser card doesn't support AltMode.

I would like to try to buy a miniDP/DP cable and try to connect it in this way. What do you think? Would I really be forced to purchase the Wacom Link Plus in the end?

P.S. The graphics card on the Windows 10 PC is a Sapphire Radeon HD6790 with 2xDVI, 1xHDMI and 1xDP connections. Drivers updated, so as my os Windows 10 1909.

P.P.S. Forgive me for my not so correct English...

Hello,
I would definitely start by checking that mDP / HDMI cable. I would also contact support to see if there are other options available.

The cable was brand new (just purchased from Amazon and then returned)

Now I just bought this cable https://amzn.to/2A3waXi since the reseller told me it is compatible to connect the cintiq to windows 10 via miniDP/DP.
We'll see.
