Macbook Pro 2019 not working with Cintiq Pro?

Postby maroeni » Thu 20. Aug 2020, 12:07

Hi,

I recently got a Cintiq Pro 13 and was really excited to try it out, however I just get the "No signal" message whenever I connect it to my Macbook Pro (2019). I think the problem lies somewhere with the the mini displayport connection - the macbook only has USB-C ports so I got a displayport/USB-C adapter (which was quite expensive) but it's still not working. It's working absolutely fine with my older Macbook (which has a direct thunderbolt 3/mini displayport port). I've also contacted the support but they didn't have a clue how to solve the situation either.

Anyone else got this problem? I'm thankful for any and all suggestions :-(

Wait, when you say your Mac has USB-C ports only, I assume these are Thunbolt so you should be able to plug the Cintiq Pro directly without needing adapters... Have you tried this?

My bad, I mixed up the ports in my original post - My current Macbook Pro (the 2019 one) only has Thunderbolt 3 aka USB-C ports, while my older one (from mid-2014) has Thunderbolt 2, which is also the connection my Cintiq Pro requires!

OK.
So with your Macbook Pro 2019, you should definitely be able to connect the tablet directly Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C port <-> USB-C port). You can do this using one of the cables that should come with the Cintiq Pro. Please note that you will still need to power up the Cintiq Pro so in total you will need to connect the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cable and the Power Supply cable. If this doesn't work, try a different cable and / or port.
