Wacom Intuos Pro disconnection issues?

First off, let me explain that I don't personally use the tablet in question - I have ZERO artistic ability. My daughter (13) uses her tablet daily/constantly for her art. Recently, it has been randomly and consistently disconnecting while she is drawing. it will only last a second or two but it happens repeatedly and frequently. The pen becomes unresponsive and you can even see the tray icon disappear/reappear quickly.

I have tried redoing the drivers (PC), replacing the wireless kit... anything I can think of to remedy the issue but with no avail. Sadly, the USB port on the tablet is shorted out (seems to be common problem from what Google tells me) so I can not attempt to use the wired connection.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? She has reverted to using her old tablet (wired) but it's small and lack-luster. I'd hate to drop another $300 on a tablet if I don't need to.
