Is the "Use Windows Ink" a solution for all W10/Pen problems?

Postby Robx2006 » Thu 4. Jan 2018, 01:48

I have no Wacom Pen right click in Windows10 or any of the programs running under it.

Photoshop is aware of the right click Wacom problem and there is a forum posted work around with .txt code #UseWintab UseSystemStylus 0, being written into C:\Users.....\Roaming.....\Adobe Photoshop cc 2018 Settings\ and this makes Photoshop usable.

Im still using a PTZ930 under Windows 10. My wacom pen click is completely dead in any other program. I am at the point of saying something completely uncharitable about Microsoft.

Is there an appropriate fix?

Photoshop can work with Windows Ink - or it can work with Wacoms wintab - when using the workaround you mention. When Windows Ink is active, you can usually use 'press and hold' to rightclick. It should also be possible to use a pen sidebutton or Expresskey to rightclick.

My pen sidebutton is functionally inactive.

A L/R sidebutton input from the pen is recognised, I get a circle around the cursor arrow, but it does nothing, doesnt actually activate the rightclick, leftclick.

The Photoshop solution was mainly to sort pen size and pressure issues that I thought were brought about by microsoft pirating pen input code for their Win Ink. I dont use win ink at all, and dont plan to.

I cannot right click out of the Windows start menu, Windows side bars, I cant file manage, I cant even right click empty recycle bin.
In Photoshop 90% of the programme features are covered up by the right click flyouts system.

It is not inconvenient, the problem has stopped me from being able to work at all with photoshop or effectively use Windows.

I have reinstalled previous Wacom Driver to get what little functionality I can. But reallisticaly do I have to throw away my A4 size PTZ 930 and Intuos Pens? Is there a chance of a usable Intuos driver so that the pen actually works with the galling new Windows update that we cant go back from?
