Tablet Does Not Detect Pen Input (CTH-670)

Postby SerafinA » Sat 24. Feb 2018, 21:03

Hi I'm trying to use my CTH-670 on my new machine with windows 10 installed on it, and the pen does not work. It detects that the pen is there when I hover over the tablet but does not take any input. Touching it with just my hands reads input, and it is behaving like a mouse (side buttons working like mouse 4 + mouse 5 etc).

I tried to install the latest drivers and it did nothing, after a reboot of my PC I tried to open wacom preferences and I was greeted with the common "Supported tablet was not found on the system" message. I tried restarting the services. I tried uninstalling the drivers and installing the older drivers as I figured it is an older tablet model.

Same issue. I'm not sure what to do, I've looked on the forums to no avail, and google was no help either. I looked in the device manager and couldn't find any wacom devices in the human interfaces tab, just a buttload of HID-compliant devices etc. I tried to troubleshoot the device in devices and printers, which at first told me that the problem was the tablet was a USB 2.0 device and it was connected to a USB 3.0 port. So I tried plugging it into a 2.0 port and it just gives me the same error, even though it is in the correct port.

Windows is fully updated after a fresh install, and neither versions of the drivers provided on the wacom website worked. I would really appreciate some help.

First try to unplug and replug the tablet than reset the driver. - If no success: unplug the tablet, uninstall the driver, restart Windows. Remove all remaining Wacom entries in device manager. If there is an 'HID Compliant mouse', check in the details, if it refers to Wacom and then remove it as well. Then attach the tablet again - if possible use a USB2 port, not a hub. Device manager should find HID devices without showing an error. Then turn off Virusprotection temporarily and install the driver.

I'm having the same issue on the same device model. I followed ALL the advice above, but the tablet is not being detected at all. Wacom Desktop Center app says so (no device connected) although the tablet's LED reacts to finger and pen input as expected, only the finger just moves the mouse cursor on screen. The latest drivers update of December don't work, and i performed a clean install prior to the new drivers' installation, no avail.

My system specs:
Windows 10 Home
Version 1709
OS Build 16299.846

Wacom Desktop Center? Sounds like you have the wrong driver installed. The CTH-670 is not supported by a driver using Wacom Desktop center. Please remove the current driver you have installed and install the compatible driver from here: https://www.wacom.com/en-us/support/product-support/drivers. Scroll down and download the driver for "Previous Generation Products" - Driver 5.3.5-3

I did exactly as what you said but it still doesn't read my pen? I have a Windows 10 and only have the Driver 5.3.5.3 installed and restarted my pc multiple times but my tablet still only responds to my finger by touch.

Hi,
Which Operating System are you using? Did anything change with the system before the pen stopped working? Is the tablet being detected by the driver?

The exact same thing happend to my CTH-460, despite using the right driving (pentablet_5.3.5-3).
I look into many solution online, like using disk clean up, fresh installation, none of them work.

1 thing I think it is related is that when you open the wacom app, it say "a supported tablet was not found on the system", which I think is the main cause of this problem.

Does anyone know any solution or who else we can contact?
