Intuos 4 L - OSX 10.13 - Driver: 6.3.28-2: PhotoshopCC2018 Scrubby Zoom

Long time wacom user. have utilised my intous 4 touch ring for scrubby zoom (and other various items)
now with latest driver with combination of photoshopCC2018 and high sierra, scrubby zoom is very jumpy.

there are already a lot of threads on here about it.

long story short - Wacom, when and how are you going to fix this?

The tablet driver send only commands to the application (scroll commands or keystrokes like Ctrl+-) It is the job of the application to react on that. For smooth zooming the touchring should be set to auto zoom/scroll while the Photoshop preferences should be set to 'zoom with mousewheel'. - The driver had a known issue with the 'pinch to zoom' multitouch gesture zoom too fast, but touchring should be ok.

when using these settings it does not zoom, only scrolls vertically (eg up and down depending on the way you move your finger on the wheel).

whilst its smooth, its not zooming.

zooming with mouse wheel is jumpy like when having the below settings set - apart from unticking zoom with wheel in photoshop.

//edit
the zooming function USED to be very smooth and would follow the cursor so i could move my pen around the image and scroll very smoothly in and out with it on an image.

the only way i can get a smooth zoom is to use my mouse, click and hold zoom in and slide my mouse left/right - which was the exact function i used to have prior to 10.13 / pscc2018 / driver updates
