wacom intuos pro (m size) stopped working on high sierra 10.13.4.

Postby annameide » Wed 16. May 2018, 02:33

Dear Wacom forum,

I am currently using a MacBook Pro (15'') and a Wacom Intuos Pro (m seize) graphic tablet. After the latest update of macOS High Sierra from version 10.13.3. to 10.13.4. my Wacom tablet stopped working all together. Even the led-lights do not turn on.

To solve that problem I tried downloading the latest Wacom drivers on the Wacom website (MacOSX - Driver 6.3.29-6 (Mac OS X 10.11, 10.12, & 10.13). After the installation my Mac was automatically restarted and from then on froze in the booting process/mode. It was quite a shock! It was only possible to restart the system by reinstalling the OS.

I am writing here today because I need to know if this is a problem (bug) Wacom knows about or is responsible for. And if so when the next Wacom driver will be aviable. As you can see on the website the last Wacom driver update was march this year.

Since I am a freelancer my livelyhood depends on the tools I use. Please let me know if there is anything I can do from my end to get my Wacom tablet to work again.

With best regards
Anna Meide

The LED light indicates that the tablet is getting power and that happens before and independant of a tablet driver. If the light is not coming on anymore the tablet or cable have a problem. Unplug the tablet, uninstall the driver restart and attach the tablet. The operating system should detect and recognise a new USB device and provide power. The LED should come On before you install the driver. - (There is a driver setting to turn off the tablet lights, when the driver is running. Removing the driver settings would then turn the light back on.)

Dear wacom1 thank you very much for your answer.

I uninstalled the drivers on my mac as you wrote and conncted the wacom tablet afterwards. Still the leds did not light up.
I will try buying a new connection cable as the next step.

Could you give me your opinion on whether this problem could be connected to the new mac OS security update (10.13.4.)? Put in my amateur words - could a software bug be so powerful that it fried my wacom tablet?

Since my tablet is only a year and a half old and is positioned at my working place/desk (no water damage / no fall) I just can't make up my mind about how it could break so fast.

with best regards
