Intuos Pro breaking "randomly" during line strokes

Postby undeserving » Wed 12. Dec 2018, 07:25

For 2 weeks now, my Intuos Pro 2017 (which is ~around~ 2 years old) has had an almost unworkable bug where the tablet just straight up will not recognize the pen after for a portion of the line drawn. Here is a clip:

https://streamable.com/jjbnt

All the lines stroked on the tablet were of equal length, but they all didn't come out equal length (except for about four of them).

This is not a Photoshop or brush bug because it happens outside of Photoshop too: When I'm scrolling down a page sometimes it won't scroll since the tablet doesn't recognize the pen for half a second. It'll also double-tap for single taps (I turned off double-tap distance as well and that didn't help in that regard anyway). Imagine going to click the layer visibility button and you go to press it and nothing happens. Except it DID turn off visibility, but turned on instantly because your pen messed up. Any other W A C O M B O Y S out there wanna throw me some help it would be appreciated.

Also, if it's any extra information my tablet only recognizes my pen and not my fingers. It's been that way for a couple months but I thought nothing of it as it didn't interfere with my workflow.

Drivers are updated and Photoshop is updated to its latest version, so is Windows 10. Intuos Pro (medium) connected through USB.

Can you confirm which Windows build?
Are you able to open the driver settings? If not, is there an error message?
So you see the same phenomenon in the same area of the tablet surface or in random areas?
Does the eraser end to the pen do the same?

I'm at 10.0.17134 build 17134.
The phenomenon is everywhere on the surface.
Interestingly though the eraser end of the pen works fine - I didn't think of trying that since I never use it lol. I have changed out the nib to a newer nib but that hasn't fixed it either.

edit: also i can access driver settings and there are no errors.

Testing the eraser is always a good way to identify the issue. Looks like the problem is lies with the regular end of the pen. You should contact support and check what can be done to get a replacement pen in case you are still in warranty: https://support.wacom.com/

Thank you. I ordered a replacement one this morning. If not for my dumbass not thinking to test the eraser and you telling me to, I was very close to buying an entire tablet.

My tablet has been doing the exact same thing. I was wondering if your new pen has fixed the issue? I am hesitant to order anything new before knowing if it will work since this stuff can get sort of pricey.

If you have the exact same issue and the eraser works well, I'm pretty sure a new pen will resolve the issue. If it doesn't, most dealers will accept returns.
