Slow Menu interface in 3ds max using Wacom

Postby hotknife » Sun 5. Feb 2017, 20:35

Using a Inituos Pen Tablet CTL-480 on my laptop with 3ds Max 2017 - whenever the drivers for the Wacom are installed the menus in Max become sluggish to switch between sub-object mode. When I un-install the drivers the menus are responsive and switch correctly.

As an example it an take 2-3 seconds to change menu with the drivers installed, when not installed and using a mouse on the same system the menu changes instantly.

This is using drivers WacomTablet_6.3.20-5

Did yu try to turn Off the 'use Windows Ink' option in the driver (on the mapping/projection panel) ? That might have such en effect.

Yes, thanks, the windows ink is, and always has been, turned off - why it's there in the first place is a mystery.
Any other suggestions are welcome - this renders the tablet & software useless.

Wacom 6.3.19-3 drivers worked fine except a fuc...ing annoying white circle on the right click. I managed to get rid of it with my older tablet "One by Wacom Medium". But since I bought the Cintiq 13 HD, I tried at least 4 different methods to get rid of that but it keeps coming back.
Anyway since I put drivers 6.3.20-5 3DSMax menus are slowed down tremendously for me too. And ZBRush's viewport is barely usable. When I rotate an object it's like 1 frame per 2 seconds. Damn...

The white circle for rightclicks is a Windows feature, when 'use Windows Ink' is activated. You can also go to the 'Pen and Touch' control panel, select 'press and hold' and disable only this feature. Turn off 'use Windows Ink' is more general and avoids some other delays as well (like penflicks etc). - If you are using Win10 we also recommend to turn On the setting for 'ignore touch input when using the pen'.
