This worked for me! I still wonder how a private person does this kind of job and not the company that actually sells the product...
Thank you Nick!

thenickdude wrote:My 6.3.15-3 patch was tested with a single Intuos 3 (make sure you installed this patch and not the v5 one for Bamboo).

However it doesn't aim to fix any 'supported tablet not found' issues - it only fixes the specific issue of the preference pane crashing when anything on it is clicked on.

My ability to find issues with the Intuos 3 driver is very limited because I don't own an Intuos 3 myself. If you open up the "Console" app, check the Crash Reports tab and see if you find anything recent there mentioning your tablet, if so this provides rich information I can use to hunt down and fix bugs in this driver. If not, it's very hard for me to figure out what's going wrong with your tablet.

EDIT: Thanks to somebody providing a crash report, I was able to fix a bug where if you had ever installed Wacom's latest driver, that driver writes a new-format preferences file which causes the old Intuos 3 driver to crash on startup. This triggers a "supported tablet not found" message. My newest fixed Intuos 3 driver now cures this problem, but you can also fix it by using Wacom Utility to remove the Current User and All User preferences and rebooting.

Hi Nick,

I appreciate your work more than I can say. However it's failing to install for me. I've tried it over and over with the same result. I'm not that tech savvy and not sure what i am doing wrong. Is there any advise you can offer?

Best,
Ron

What error message are you getting and at which stage of the installation?

I've got an Intuos 3 PTZ-630 and Catalina 10.15.6
I've downloaded and installed the latest driver and the patch and it no longer says no supported device error but "Waiting for synchronization"
Anyone find a fix for this? Thank you!

Most of the time this is solved by following the instructions in my readme to remove all the Wacom permissions, rebooting, and re-ticking the permissions that reappear when you try to use the tablet:

wow.

i now have a perfectly working intuos 3 on catalina 10.15.6....

i hit a wall for a while and almost wrote up a post whining for help but i tried a few more things. if anyone else is stuck:
-first, a "Wacom Tablet.kext" file under system files that wouldnt allow me delete it. had to go into terminal and do some kind of sudo kextcache stage clearing to get rid of it.
-accessibility privacy panel wouldnt allow me to remove WacomTabletSpringboard even after it was deleted. not sure if getting kext file out of the way helped or i'm just dumb, but i had to double click highlight the checked empty file (it stayed after rebooting) and hit "-" to get it to go away
-that still didnt solve my issues after reboot/permission loading on terminal so i decided to go with earlier advice:
ecphtqns wrote:Wacom - I'm using multiple Intuos 3 tablets up to Mac 10.14.5 with an older driver. 6.3.15-2

i stripped all wacom files for a second time, downloaded 6.3.15-2, used nick's patch, had to manually add wacomtabletdriver & wacomtabletspringboard to both accessibility & input panels in privacy,.......... and boom...

i cannot thank you all enough. this is saving my a** right now!!!! i WILL be back to donate when i am able. you've seriously made my month, i thought i was out a tablet and i can't afford to upgrade right now- my money depends on this tablet to begin with. wow.... seriously.... anyway hope my troubleshooting helps cause i really thought i was screwed. im using the most recent update of catalina.

I was having the same issue, the pen moved but couldn't click. I tried your patch but now I get "A supported tablet not found..." in the preferences. I uninstalled and installed the driver you posted. What is the problem?
