Intuos S projection size

Postby schwatvogel » Sat 18. Apr 2020, 13:07

Hi,

i'm new here. I am one of the many that had to put their meetings online. To better use the whiteboard function i thought i'd grab some draw pads, price was manageable. However I find them unusable - or I am simply not able to find the right setting. What we want to do: use the tablet (intuos S) to draw or sketch things during a meeting. Now the intuos always projects on the whole screen - which is ridiculous, we have 24-31" screens. Or I found a menu where i can set it to a subsection of the screen. Which is impractical since the windows move around, its not like you put the whiteboard at exactly the same position all the time. What I am looking for: the least would be to have the intuos draw just in the ACTIVE WINDOW. That would still be bad but managable. Best would be if the intuos would just draw 1 to 1 of its size in the middle of the active window. Is there any way to use it this way? if not i should probably return it...and maybe you can tell me which tablet would be a better buy for the task at hand? Technically it should be easily possible - of course one would somewhere have to tell the tablet the radio of the monitor but other than that...i really see no reason why this should not be possible.

Thanks in advance and stay safe!

Hello.
Welcome to the Wacom Forum.
You can change the mapping settings to fit a portion of the display, or to fit to a single display if you have multiple ones. In alternative, you can also try using Mouse mode.
Check this video for a better idea of how this works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdKtG_1LAkw

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately that does not help at all. I know I can assign the portion of the screen - but a fixed one. I am not sure how that is helpful. When I move my teams window to look something up its going to be screwed up. In the meantime i have found that people write scripts to achieve scaling in particular windows relative to window position. Basically the script updates the absolute numbers in the wacom app to the positition of the window. So I guess that WACOM does not support this kind of use (why would people write scripts if it was). The why is beyond me. Technically it must be easily possible. I will check other manufacturers, if i find a suitable device, I will post it here, from replies from our intranet helpboard the demand is definetly there for this. To say the least.

oh thank you. I didnt know that was possible. maybe there is hope then :)

As I said, the demand is definetly there. I know its not its intented use, but given the current situation where you cant just sit next to someone and sketch something on a piece of paper this is, at least that is my impression, a huge market right now, especially given the price. I was going to order 17 tablets for my group alone...if it worked for our application of sketching during a meeting.

Thanks!
