Help for a total newbie

Postby jhnaby » Thu 7. May 2020, 17:52

Hi everyone,

I recently heard of Wacom products and bought a used one (Bamboo Pen and Touch CTH-460). I know this is an old one, but I just wanted to give it a try and moving to a newer one. My main interest is to make collaborative notes. However, since it is an old model , I have trouble understanding what softwares or applications are compatible with it. Namely, can I use ink features on Microsoft Office? Are there any specific Wacom or external applications that can work with this tablet?

Many thanks for your help.

The Pen tablet will essentially work as a pointing device with some added features (like pressure sensitivity, tilt and some other features depending on the model). This means that will will virtually work with any software you install on your supported operating system. You will need to install the driver which you can download here: https://www.wacom.com/support/product-support/drivers
Be aware that only some software will be able to support the added features of pressure sensitivity for example.
If you are interested in note taking, you can try OneNote for example. Ink features in the Office suite should work fine.
I would also recommend getting our Wacom Apps: Bamboo Paper and Inkspace

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I had installed the driver already (I use Windows 10)

I had a look at Bamboo Paper and Inkspace but I thought, after reading their description, they would not work with an old tablet like the CTH-460 I have. Would they?

Thanks again.

Paper should definitely work. Inkspace will also work but only certain features.
