Intuos Pro M (2015) should you be able to use it also as a touch pad?

Postby Sabina » Sat 22. Aug 2020, 00:52

I bought the Intuos Pro M some years back but have just started to use it. I have the latest version of Catalina installed and working on a 2019 MacBook Pro (16inch). The tablet is connecting no problem. But sometimes I am able to use my fingers to scroll down a page and "sometimes" - very rarely with the grip pen that came with the tablet. Should I be able to use the tablet as a touch pad as well as a drawing board and should those functions which the MacBook Pro trackpad offers - such as scrolling, be available on the Intuos? If the later is the case, how do I set the tablet so that it works all the time and not just occasionally as the case is at the moment.

Thanking you
Sabina

Hello Sabina,
Welcome to the forum.
Yes, you should definitely be able to use the Intuos Pro as a touchpad. The default driver settings already have all the usual gestures enabled so you should not need to make any changes to the settings. Just make sure "Touch" is enabled.
Also, be aware that the Wacom Intuos Pro has palm rejection which means that the touch input will be ignored when the pen is in proximity - even if not touching the surface. You need to move the pen tip away from the surface of the tablet to be able to use touch.

Many thanks. At this stage my Intuos Pro is a day to day learning process for me so your input is very helpful.

Thank you for the offer of support. However, whenever I go to a Wacom support site I am required to submit my "Region" which just happens to be Japan. The last and only time I have reached out to them was just over a week ago and it took a whole week to get back to me. That's why I posted to this forum. Furthermore, whilst I can speak Japanese pretty well I would prefer to use my native language, English.

Re my initial post. I am still having problems. Sometimes my tablet will obey and work as a touch pad instead of having to use my mouse or MacBook Pro touch pad, but often it doesn't. Can you or anybody suggest why this should be the case? I would certainly like to be able to use my tablet as a touch pad in preference to the other two methods if possible. Is the "touch" e shown in my screenshot? I have just found it and turned it on to see whether it makes any difference. Too early tell as yet but would like your clarification if possible thank you.

No worries, you should still be able to get English support in Japan. Use this URL: https://www.wacom.com/en-jp/support

Yes, that is the Touch ON function. Touch should not work in case this is turned OFF.
I recommend you to take a quick look at the manual just in case: http://101.wacom.com/UserHelp/en/TOC/PTH-651.html
