Wacom Pro ceased to be Pro

Postby DenisM » Mon 6. Aug 2018, 04:24

In our company, we recently decided to upgrade hardware, in particular, we would change old 24" displays to some of perfect new generation UHD monitors. Also, we need to change old Intuos4 tablets, that begin to go unstable.

Look at monitors:

Screen size: 31.3-inch
02. Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q

Screen size: 31.5-inch
03. Philips Brilliance BDM4065UC

Screen size: 40-inch

3 – Philips Brilliance BDM4065UC

5 – Asus ProArt PA329Q
6 – BenQ PD3200U
7 – Samsung U28E590D

"With newer improvements in display technology, 4K resolution monitors are fast becoming one of the most chosen types of monitors for the creative use.
Graphic designers gain the most out of 4K monitors due to the improved resolution that gives them a better idea of the work process and the bigger screens are undoubtedly easier to use in designing."

It seems like 32" became a professional standard, some peolpe use up to 40", 43" monitors.

"The expansive size of the 43-inch class LCD Display offers users of all kinds a unique experience. Productivity users can compare information more easily, while designers can see detail more clearly and spend less time scrolling in and out for detail vs. overview. Engineers can use the display, which is optimized for top CAD programs, to compare four Full-HD detailed images at the same time. Graphic designers, photographers and videographers receive the highest resolution for the finest details and brilliant on-screen performance, while gamers get precise details and brilliant picture with ultra-fast response times that show images without artifacts", says Philips.

Ok, and which input devices can be used with these monitors? Look at Wacom tablets:

"Redefining the professional standard in creative pen tablets"
"Wacom Intuos Pro is available in two sizes. Medium is lighter and more compact, easy to carry from job to job, whereas Large offers the most expansive drawing area."

Seriously? Redefining the professional standard? Returning it back to the Stone Age? While monitors become larger, Wacom make tablets smaller, where is XL size?

This is sad, but, unfortunately, Wacom have no complete solution for professionals. Available products are not suitable for some drawing and especially for CAD/CAM. Pen tablets are too small, display tablets are not useful for high precision, accurate pixel for pixel full day work, amongst other things.
