companion 1 battery not found/plugged in not charging

Postby denniscalero » Wed 22. Aug 2018, 12:33

after not updating the device for a while, i fired it up, and updated to current windows, current wacom update

it did not ask to update firmware

now, sometimes it will say "battery not detected" OR "plugged in not charging"

i cant find a way to manually update the bios.

i tried updating the battery driver, disabling and reenabling the battery, uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

any thoughts?

Welcome to the inherent fault on the companion 1 :) Cheap power port means it fails in what seems like 100% of units.
I've managed to keep my one going for about 4 yrs but for most of the time I don't work with it plugged in. I also keep an eye on it whilst charging, at certain angles it loses connection. I think at somepoint it will just stop. Wacom will charge me £250 or more to fix my £1500 piece of equipment and I know from friends this fix does not last. Added to that annoying glitchy behaviour since that win 10 update :/
