Art Pen Rotation Issues

Postby hsharp327 » Wed 5. May 2021, 20:19

Hey everyone,

I am using a Wacom Art Pen so that I can rotate my stylus and have the brush tool rotate the same way. However, the results are wildly inconsistent. When moving my stylus across the Cintiq or tablet, the rotation settings freak the hell out and go haywire, rotating the brush tool in random directions during the stroke, despite me holding the stylus in a fixed position while gliding across the surface of my tablet. Some directions are worse than others (dragging from bottom to top is absurdly broken), but all directions do it to an extent.

I dont know how to post images here, so you can see the examples on my reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/wacom/comments ... on_issues/

Yes, the drivers are up to date. Yes, it does this issue with other versions of photoshop. And yes, the Wacom diagnostics panel shows the rotation value freaking out when moving across the surface.

Is this normal for all Art Pens? Or is mine just broken? Is there maybe another solution? I'm using Windows.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,
The Reddit post has been removed by mods so I cannot see what you wrote there.
what you describe sounds like a potential Hardware issue with the pen. It would be better to contact our support for some more troubleshooting and a solution if the Hardware issue is confirmed.

Thanks for the response! I have contacted customer support, they've stated they've never heard of this issue before, and just recommeneded uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers Which I did. It didnt fix the problem.

The Rotation issue only happens on the Cintiq, not the intuous tablet. And it happens with both Art Pens that I own. So that means its either an issue with my cintiq not working probperly, or a universal issue with all Art Pens compatiblitiy with the cintiqs.

Understood. I doubt the problem is with the Cintiq though. Please follow up with the support team. Should collect more information and try to find the potential cause for the issue.

I followed up with the support team, and they suggested I buy a new art pen.

I did, and the issue still persists, only when moving from botttom to top of screen, or when holding the pen so that the buttons are on the left side. It is either an issue with the cintiq or ALL art pens
