CTH- 670 FUN MED won't load on PowerPC MAC OSX 10.5.8

CTH- 670 FUN MED won't load on PowerPC MAC OSX 10.5.8

Postby jonbars » Sun 8. Apr 2012, 21:58

I have purchased a Bamboo Fun and Touch Medium, Model number CTH- 670. It says on the box that it will run on MAC OSX 10.5.8 or later, Intel processor or PowerPC processor.
I have a PowerBook G4 OSX 10.5.8 the full details are:

Model Name: PowerBook G4 17"
Model Identifier: PowerBook5,1
Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
Processor Speed: 1 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.6.2f1
Serial Number (system): V73121U9MVZ
Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-000A959CFAA6

However, I cannot load it. Why?

It says on the box that it will run on either a Intel or PowerPC processor. But it does not. Have I misunderstood something?

I want to draw black and white pen and ink style drawings. Have I gone for the best product?

Thanks

Can you please elaborate on the issues you are facing?
I assume you downloaded the latest driver from http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?pid=29&lang=en, correct?
Then you need to run the installer to get the tablet installed.

After that you should be able to plug in the tablet and use it.

Hello, thanks for reply.

I simply followed the instructions in the booklet- turn off all other applications, plug in USB lead on tablet, insert CD. It then said it was not supported "on this architecture".

I know what that means ( it won't work), but then looking at the box it said it was supported on both PowerPc and Intel machines.

So I got stuck.

The link to drivers it a great step forward.

Which driver am I downloading?

LATEST DRIVER FOR BAMBOO PEN AND TOUCH or

DRIVER AND SOFTWARE INSTALLATION TOOL FOR BAMBOO?

I guess the DRIVER and not the INSTALLATION TOOL.

I am getting somewhere at least, so many thanks :)

Unless you want to use the Bamboo Dock, the driver download is sufficient.
Bamboo Dock can be installed later anyway (from http://bamboodock.wacom.com)

Make sure to use driver 5.25 (the later 5.26 does not support PPC anymore).
